IL-8 是一種由 72-77 個氨基酸組成的多肽 （1），也稱為 CXCL8、GCP-1 和 NAP-1。作為 CXC 趨化因子家族的一員，它可以采用單體或同源二聚體構象，其中包含排列成希臘鍵的三鏈反平行 β 折疊和長 C 端螺旋 （2）。IL-8 還可以形成具有 PF4 活性的異二聚體 （3）。IL-8 的受體是 CXCR1 和 CXCR2（4）。

IL-8 主要由巨噬細胞產(chǎn)生 （5）。它在人微血管內(nèi)皮細胞中充當血管生成因子 （6）。IL-8 在炎癥中的主要作用是中性粒細胞的募集 （7），盡管它也負責炎癥部位單核細胞、淋巴細胞、嗜堿性粒細胞和嗜酸性粒細胞的趨化遷移和激活 （8）。
