香葉基焦磷酸(GPP)是異戊二烯生物合成途徑中的一個中間體。異戊二烯類化合物是一類多樣的天然產(chǎn)物,是所有細(xì)胞中的必需成分。異戊二烯類化合物是由簡單的前體物質(zhì)異戊二烯焦磷酸(IPP)和二甲基烯丙基焦磷酸(DMAPP)生物合成的。真核生物、真菌和一些革蘭氏陽性菌通過甲羥戊酸(MVA)途徑產(chǎn)生IPP,而革蘭氏陰性菌和一些革蘭氏陽性菌則利用非甲羥戊酸途徑或2-C-甲基-D-赤蘚糖醇-4-磷酸(MEP)途徑。GPP是由二甲基烯丙基焦磷酸(DMAPP)和異戊二烯焦磷酸(IPP)在香葉基焦磷酸合酶的催化下縮合形成的。
