- Heme is one important member of the porphyrin family. It is synthesized in both mitochondria and cytoplasm, and is a key prosthetic group for various essential proteins such as hemoglobin, cytochromes, catalases and peroxidases. Heme determination is widely practiced by researchersof various blood diseases.Intended Use:Direct Assays: total heme in blood, serum, plasma, urine, heme carrying enzymes.Pharmacology: effects of drugs on heme metabolism.Drug Discovery: HTS for drugs that modulate heme levels.Range:0.6-125umTest Principle:This Heme BioAssay Kit is based on an improved aqueous alkaline solution method, in which the heme is converted into a uniform colored form. The intensity of color, measured at 400nm, is directly proportional to the heme concentration in the sample. The optimized formulationsubstantially reduces interference by substances in the raw samples and exhibits high sensitivity.Kit Components:Reagent, 1x50mlCalibrator, 1x10ml (equivalent to 62.5um heme)Storage and Stability:Store powder at 4°C liquid at -20°C. Store other components at 4°C. Stable for at least 6 months For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
