LIN28 is a highly conserved cytoplasmic RNA-binding protein. Lin28 has an N-terminal cold shock domain and two C-terminal （CCHC） zinc finger motif. It is expressed in embryonic stem cells and embryonic carcinoma cells. Lin28 is also found in adult cardiac and skeletal muscle.
