- This gene encodes a complex glycoprotein secreted in plasma. The precursor is proteolytically processed into distinct functioning proteins: alpha-1-microglobulin, which belongs to the superfamily of lipocalin transport proteins and may play a role in the regulation of inflammatory processes, and bikunin, which is a urinary trypsin inhibitor belonging to the superfamily of Kunitz-type protease inhibitors and plays an important role in many physiological and pathological processes. This gene is located on chromosome 9 in a cluster of lipocalin genes.Sample Type:Serum, plasma and tissue homogenatesIntended Use:For the quantitative determination of canine alpha-1-microglobulin/bikunin precursor (AMBP) concentrations in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates.Sensitivity:0.649ng/mlRange:1.563-100ng/mlSpecificity:This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of canine AMBP. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between canine AMBP and analogues was observed.Test Principle:This BioAssay employs the competitive inhibition enzyme immunoassay technique. The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with AMBP. Standards or samples are added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugated antibody preparation specific for AMBP. The competitive inhibition reaction is launched between with pre-coated AMBP and AMBP in samples. A substrate solution is added to the wells and the color develops in opposite to the amount of AMBP in the samples.
