- Nesfatin-1 is a metabolic polypeptide encoded in the N-terminal region of the precursor protein, Nucleobindin2 (NUCB2). Originally identified as a hypothalamic neuropeptide, Nesfatin-1 is also expressed in other areas of the brain, and in pancreatic isletsβ-cells, gastric endocrine cells and adipocytes. Nesfatin-1 suppresses food intake and can regulate energy metabolism in a Leptin independent manner. Recombinant human Nesfatin-1 is a 9.7 kDa protein containing 82 amino acid residues.

- The lyophilized Nesfatin-1 recombinant protein is stable for at least 2 years from date of receipt at -20˚C. Reconstituted Nesfatin-1 stable for at least 3 months when stored in working aliquots with a carrier protein at -20˚C. As with any protein, exposing Nesfatin-1 recombinant protein to repeated freeze / thaw cycles is not recommended. When working with proteins care should be taken to keep recombinant protein at a cool and stable temperature.
