- The protein encoded by this gene is a member of thenankyrin repeat and SOCS box-containing (ASB) family of proteins.nThey contain ankyrin repeat sequence and SOCS box domain. The SOCSnbox serves to couple suppressor of cytokine signalling (SOCS)nproteins and their binding partners with the elongin B and Cncomplex, possibly targeting them for degradation. This gene isninduced by all-trans retinoic acid. In myeloid leukemia cells, thenexpression of this encoded protein has been shown to induce growthninhibition and chromatin condensation. Multiple alternativelynspliced transcript variants have been described for this gene butntheir full length sequences are not known.
