- This gene encodes a member of the latrophilin subfamily ofnG-protein coupled receptors (GPCR). Latrophilins may function innboth cell adhesion and signal transduction. In experiments withnnon-human species, endogenous proteolytic cleavage within ancysteine-rich GPS (G-protein-coupled-receptor proteolysis site)ndomain resulted in two subunits (a large extracellular N-terminalncell adhesion subunit and a subunit with substantial similarity tonthe secretin/calcitonin family of GPCRs) being non-covalently boundnat the cell membrane.
