- Functions of the cell cortex, including motility,nadhesion, and cytokinesis, are mediated by the reorganization ofnthe actin cytoskeleton and recent evidence suggests a role for thenFormin homology (FH) proteins in these processes. The proteinnencoded by this gene contains FH domains and belongs to a novel FHnprotein subfamily implicated in cell polarity. Wnt/Fz signalingnactivates the small GTPase Rho, a key regulator of cytoskeletonnarchitecture, to control cell polarity and movement duringndevelopment. Activation requires Dvl-Rho complex formation, annassembly mediated by this gene product, which is thought tonfunction as a scaffolding protein. Evidence of alternative splicingnhas been observed for this gene but the full-length nature of thesenvariants has not been determined.
