- Stem Cell Factor (SCF) is a cytokine made by fibroblasts and endothelial cells. SCF binds to the receptor known as c-Kit (CD117) and is thought to play a critical role in the maintenance and surivial of hematopoietic stem cells. Human SCF shows no activity on murine cells, but murine and rat SCF are active on human cells. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
