特色產品反式-反式法呢基焦磷酸(FPP)是異戊二烯生物合成中的一個中間體。異戊二烯化合物是一類多樣的天然產物,是所有細胞中的必需成分。異戊二烯化合物是由簡單的前體異戊烯基焦磷酸(IPP)和二甲基烯丙基焦磷酸(DMAPP)生物合成的。真核生物、真菌和一些革蘭氏陽性菌通過甲羥戊酸(MVA)途徑產生IPP,而革蘭氏陰性菌和一些革蘭氏陽性菌則利用非甲羥戊酸途徑或2-C-甲基-D-赤蘚糖醇-4-磷酸(MEP)途徑。FPP是由法呢基焦磷酸合酶催化DMAPP與兩個IPP單位縮合形成的。
