Immobilized Cibacron Blue 3G is prepared by covalent linking of Cibacron Blue 3G dye with 6% cross-linked agarose. The resin is offered based on property of textile dyes to bind proteins, especially those with affinities to various nucleotides. Furthermore, affinity of reactive dyes to proteins may be due to substrate/cofactor similarities as well as hydrophobic and ion exchange properties.

Immobilized Cibacron Blue 3G binds several proteins such as albumin, interferon, lipoproteins and blood coagulation factors. It also binds several enzymes such as kinases, dehydrogenase and most enzymes requiring adenyl-containing cofactors such as NAD+

Immobilized Cibacron Blue 3G is widely used in purification of albumins and interferons. Also helps in removing albumins from protein fraction.
