人類及動(dòng)物體骨組織不斷地進(jìn)行著重建，骨重建過程包括骨的分解吸收與新骨的形成。破骨細(xì)胞（Osteoclast，OC）負(fù)責(zé)骨分解與吸收，而成骨細(xì)胞（osteoblast，OB）負(fù)責(zé)新骨形成。破骨細(xì)胞貼附在舊骨區(qū)域，分泌酸性物質(zhì)溶解礦物質(zhì)，分泌蛋白酶消化骨基質(zhì)，形成骨吸收陷窩；其后，成骨細(xì)胞移行至被吸收部位，分泌骨基質(zhì)，骨基質(zhì)礦化而形成新骨。破骨與成骨過程的平衡是維持正常骨量的關(guān)鍵。   

       抗酒石酸酸性磷酸酶（TRAP，tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase）為破骨細(xì)胞的標(biāo)志酶，特異地分布于破骨細(xì)胞中，為破骨細(xì)胞所特有。通常作為鑒別破骨細(xì)胞的重要標(biāo)志物，使破骨細(xì)胞呈紅色。
