USP2核心結(jié)構域是USP2的兩種亞型USP2a和USP2b的共同催化核心結(jié)構域。體外研究表明，USP2核心結(jié)構域能夠從睪丸提取物中去除高分子量蛋白的泛素化，并且能夠高效地切割Ub-PLA2。USP2a受雄激素調(diào)節(jié)，在前列腺腫瘤中過表達，并且據(jù)報道在前列腺癌中具有抗凋亡功能。此外，USP2a在非轉(zhuǎn)化細胞中的異位表達在體外和體內(nèi)促進了癌變行為。值得注意的是，Priolo等人還證明了E3泛素連接酶Hdm2被USP2a去泛素化。
