- Albumin is a soluble, monomeric protein which comprises about one-half of the blood serum protein. Albumin functions primarily as a carrier protein for steroids, fatty acids, and thyroid hormones and plays a role in stabilizing extracellular fluid volume. Albumin is a globular unglycosylated serum protein of molecular weight 65,000. Albumin is synthesized in the liver as preproalbumin which has an N-terminal peptide that is removed before the nascent protein is released from the rough endoplasmic reticulum. The product, proalbumin, is in turn cleaved in the Golgi vesicles to produce the secreted albumin.Sample Type:Serum, plasma and urineIntended Use:For the quantitative determination of rabbit albumin (Alb) concentrations in serum, plasma, urine. Sensitivity:0.273ug/mlRange:0.273-70ug/mlSpecificity:This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of rabbit albumin. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between rabbit albumin and analogues was observed.Test Principle:This BioAssay employs the competitive inhibition enzyme immunoassay technique. The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with antibody preparation specific for albumin. Standards or samples are added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugated albumin. The competitive inhibition reaction is launched between with HRP conjugated albumin and albumin in samples. A substrate solution is added to the wells and the color develops in opposite to the amount of albumin in the sample. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured. Kit Components:Assay plate, 1x96 wellsStandard (10X concentrate), 1x200ul HRP-conjugate (100X concentrate), 1x60ul HRP-conjugate Diluent, 1x20ml Sample Diluent, 2x20ml Wash Buffer (25X concentrate), 1x20ml TMB Substrate, 1x10ml Stop Solution, 1x10ml Adhesive Strip (For 96 wells), 4x strips Instruction manual Storage and Stability:Store powder at 4°C liquid at -20°C. Store other components at 4°C. Stable for at least 6 months For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
