Isopentenyl diphosphate (IPP) is a building block in the isoprenoid biosynthesis pathway. Isoprenoid compounds are a diverse group of natural products which are essential components in all cells. Isoprenoids are biosynthesized from the simple precursors isopentenyl diphosphate (IPP) and dimethylallyl diphosphate (DMAPP).
